the bride's attendants:
cindy lo - the maid of honor and my best friend in college. people got us confused all the time because we have the same name and because we did everything together. cindy has always been so good about asking me questions, making me talk about life, making me a reflective person, and being all that you could want in a best friend.
christine wong - we were duo interp and policy debate partners in high school and we had lots of fun being crazy people together. christine liked to eat my shoe. these days, christine and i talk about wedding plans and all sorts of scary marriage stuff because she's getting married this year, too!
windy chen - windy brought me to church when we were in 5th grade and i've never stopped going since then :) windy and i grew up together in church, and one of my fondest memories of windy was when someone stepped on a gummy bear and windy still ate it. these days, windy and i plot against the crazy kids at church.
jacqui lai - this australian girl and i spent lots of time romping around the yale campus and have spent lots of time talking about the tough relationship stuff - both during college and afterward. she's a law student and a dreamer, and she regularly speaks with a poetic flourish (enhanced by the aussie accent).
connie au – connie is chris' big sister. she lives in new york and is incredibly sweet -- she bought pizza and yummy (huge) cupcakes for me and chris when we were visiting, she always lets us stay in her apt when we're in ny, and last time we left ny to come back to cali, she left big bags of candy on our suitcases for the plane ride home. connie and i like to wear the matching socks that her dad gives us for christmas.
the groom's attendants:
david an - the best man – lives in boston and is working on his second master's degree at harvard. we met freshmen year at yale and became friends when we discovered that our college applications were identical – from SAT scores to newspaper editing to violin pwnage (as in we got pwned by it). dave is getting married in june!
charles ahn lives in los angeles and works for UCLA. we met at a church in LA and became friends when we discovered that we both liked films, had the same personality type (NF - idealist) and had a lot of great ideas (but needed some help on the follow-through). charlie got me hooked on macs and npr. i got him hooked on phonics.
frank attenello III lives in baltimore and is working on adding another suffix to the end of his name - "M.D." we met freshmen year at yale and became friends when we discovered that we were both really really ridiculously good looking. we always used to go to this pizza place to talk – that was where i told him i liked cindy and he wasn't allowed to.
alexander chang lives in orange county and works for panasonic. we met at a church in LA and became friends when we discovered that we lived two minutes away from each other and had a lot of free time. we used to bring sandwiches and visit homeless guys in santa monica once a week. sorry ladies, alex got engaged recently!
david s. lee lives in west LA and works by day as a computer programmer at xerox and by night as a filmmaker. i first heard about dave when cindy told me she had an older brother who would beat me up. just recently, when dave came home for thanksgiving, he sent me an email that said he was going to beat me up.
